South African red-ball skipper Dean Elgar has stated that the four-pronged pace bowling unit is yearning to take consistent wickets for the success of the team.

The latest outing of the Proteas witnessed them securing a dominant victory by an innings and 12 runs against England in the first fixture of the series at Lord's.

Furthermore, it was also the first loss for the Three Lions in the purest format in the 2022 summer.

The key architects in the win for the visitors were the proficient performances of their pace bowling unit comprising Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Marco Jansen and Lungi Ngidi.

Elgar thinks the pacers put the ball in the right areas, while also getting assistance from the pitch at Lord's.

"Our bowlers are leading our pack at the moment and they're extremely hungry for success. The competition among them is brilliant and the way they go about things is the most professional behaviour I've seen from fast bowlers," said Elgar.

Dean Elgar hints at same XI for second Test

Elgar believes they have the same set of 12 players, who are in contention for the second fixture at Old Trafford, Manchester.

The twelfth man in the last game was spinner Simon Harmer, who is expected to remain on the sidelines due to the impressive performances by Keshav Maharaj.

Further, the skipper expects a strong 'fight back with a vengeance' from the English team, after the dismal performance in the last outing.
