Ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, former cricketer Suresh Raina has shifted the spotlight away from established stars like Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah. According to Raina, the upcoming matches will be dominated by the return of Virat Kohli to Test cricket after an eight-month hiatus.

Suresh Raina Praises Rohit Sharma’s Leadership Skills

Raina praised Rohit Sharma’s leadership skills, particularly highlighting his successful stint as captain in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. However, he emphasized that Kohli's return to red-ball cricket is what fans should be keenly watching.

“Rohit is a fantastic captain and he proved it when the Indian team lifted the T20 World Cup Trophy. But the focus will be on Virat Kohli’s return to Red-ball cricket. He loves Test matches and gives a lot of respect to them. Leading to the WTC, India will play around 10 matches and I believe Virat will score a hell lot of runs in this Test cycle,”  Raina told IANS.

The 35-year-old's last Test appearance was against South Africa, and his absence from the five-Test series against England has only intensified the eagerness to see him back in action in Tests.

Raina believes that Kohli’s affinity for Test cricket, coupled with his ability to thrive under pressure, will be a decisive factor in the upcoming matches. He noted that Kohli’s penchant for scoring heavily in challenging situations makes him a key player to watch.

“Virat thrives under pressure and the Test season will see him going for runs. Bangladesh have strong pacers but Kohli has shown in the past that he dominate such bowlers. I expect him to shine,” Raina said.

Virat Kohli Smashes A Wall With A Huge Six

Adding to the buzz, Virat Kohli made headlines during a practice session at Chennai's Chepauk Stadium on September 15. His powerful shot during training damaged a wall near the dressing rooms as reported by the Jio Cinema.
