Kristian Clarke has been called up to the New Zealand team for the first time in his career, and the cricketer is set to link up with the ‘Black Caps’ squad ahead of their third home ODI match against the visiting Englishmen. Kristian will be joining the team in place of injured Matt Henry, considering the experienced pacer suffered a left calf strain a couple of days ago at the Seddon Park in Hamilton.

After failing to recover from his injury, Henry will now be heading home in Christchurch on October 31.

Kristian Clarke poised to make his New Zealand debut

Promising Northern Districts fast bowler Kristian Clarke is poised to make his international debut for New Zealand through their upcoming third ODI match against England. The speedster will be replacing experienced Matt Henry in the New Zealand line-up, considering the latter has been ruled out of the team owing to a calf injury.

Clarke was selected for the New Zealand team shortly after he delivered an exceptional match-winning spell of 3-57 against Central Districts in the fifth match of the 2025 Ford Trophy in New Plymouth just a day prior. He also scored an unbeaten century in the game from 107 balls with nine fours and five huge sixes to cap a remarkable all-round performance for himself.

A mean pace machine and an aspiring all-rounder, Kristian Clarke has so far clipped 52 wickets in List A cricket from just 30 innings at an impressive bowling average of 26.55. He has also snared 72 first-class wickets and another 22 in 19 T20 innings to haul 146 wickets across all formats since his domestic debut for Northern Districts back in March 2022.

Nonetheless, with series already in New Zealand’s bag with a 2-0 lead, their third and final ODI against England will be played on Saturday, November 1 at the Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington.
