The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have appointed Mark Coles as Pakistan Women's head coach with immediate effect and will join the team in Australia. Coles served as head coach between 2017 and 2019, before leaving the job citing personal reasons.

Under Coles, Pakistan Women won 16 ODIs and 12 T20Is.

The PCB, headed by new chairman Najam Sethi, has appointed Coles on a one-year deal. Coles takes over from Saleem Jaffar and will now oversee the Australian tour consisting of three ODIs and many T20Is.

Coles, who joined the PCB on a trial basis, signed a long-term contract in 2018 but left the following year. Since then, Coles has worked with the Japan Cricket Association, Vanuatu Cricket Association, and the Scottish Women's team ( February 2021 - February 2022).

Here's what Sethi said

"I have worked with Mark and he is a perfect coach for a women's team - gentle but firm, friendly but strict. He is a well-respected coach and in his previous stint with Pakistan he worked incredibly hard for the team's progress.

Players only had good words to say about him, hence we have decided to bring him back and he will be joining the team in Australia with immediate effect."

Following the Australian tour, Pakistan will head to South Africa for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, where they are placed n Group 2 alongside England, India, Ireland and West Indies.
