In a significant development, there are reports that the Nepal Cricket team is set to travel to India in August 2025 to train in Bengaluru. According to a report from Sportstar, in an attempt to strengthen the diplomatic ties between the two nations, Nepal will train at the Centre of Excellence from August 20 to September 4 to prepare for the T20 World Cup qualifiers.

“Cricket cooperation has added a new dimension to the deep-rooted and age-old historical ties between India and Nepal, connecting the youth of the two countries through a shared passion for cricket,” an Indian government official stated, speaking to Sportstar.

It won't be the first time that Nepal will train in India, as the neighbouring country travelled to India in August 2024 as well to better their cricketing skills. Notably, this time around, the training serves a purpose as the World Cup qualifiers are in October, and the main event is set to be held in India and Sri Lanka in February 2026.

Nepal Eyeing T20 World Cup Spot

Out of the 20 teams, 15 have qualified, and only five spots are up for grabs. Two teams from Africa and three from Asia are all set to fill the vacant spots. Talking about Nepal, the qualifiers begin from October 8 to October 17 with nine participants.

Nepal are placed in group B alongside Japan and Kuwait. It is a long route as the top two teams from the three groups will advance to the super six, and the top three teams in that stage will advance to the T20 World Cup 2026.

Nepal Show Promise

Nepal have risen to a meticulous rise in the recent past as they have appeared in two T20 World Cups, with the latest appearance being in the 2024 T20 World Cup. However, the side from Asia would look to change things this time around as they were winless in the previous edition.
