In a significant development, Sri Lanka has appointed former South African batsman Neil McKenzie as the national team’s consultant coach ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa. He has been appointed for a short span to enhance their performance in challenging overseas conditions, especially in a series that forms a part of the World Test Championship (WTC) Cycle for 2023–2025.
Neil McKenzie To Coach Sri Lanka In Pre-Series Camp
Neil McKenzie has ample experience and have nearly scored 5,000 international runs across formats for South Africa. He will be joining the team in South Africa from November 13 to 21. His role will involve working closely with the players during a pre-series camp designed to help them acclimate to South African pitches and conditions.
With extensive experience playing in South Africa, McKenzie is expected to provide invaluable insights into the nuances of local conditions, including handling pace and bounce. His understanding of the intricacies of South African wickets could give Sri Lanka a significant edge as they aim to secure crucial WTC points.
