In a significant development around CPL, Pakistan star player Naseem Shah will mark his second appearance in the West Indies' premier T20 tournament as the right-arm seamer has been added to the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots squad as Corbin Bosch's replacement.
The upcoming season of the CPL is all set to kickstart from August 15. Bosch, who was a part of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots squad, pulled out his name after he got selected for South Africa's upcoming tour against Australia starting on August 16.
According to Cricket Pakistan, Naseem will replace the star South Africa all-rounder, who is in demand after his heroics in the IPL 2025 with Mumbai Indians and great performance against Zimbabwe in the Test series.
Naseem will serve his second stint in the Caribbean Premier League, his first appearance being in 2021 with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
Naseem Shah Added To Pakistan Squad For West Indies Tour
On Friday, July 25, Pakistan Cricket Board released their squad for the upcoming tour against West Indies. Naseem Shah is not picked for the T20I squad, but is a part of the 16-member list for ODI.
Naseem is set for an extended visit to the Caribbeans as the tour will end on August 12 and will then join St Kitts and Nevis Patriots for the CPL.
Naseem Not In Plans For Test Side?
Notably, right after the West Indies tour, Pakistan will travel to England for a three-match Test series starting on August 19, which will overlap with the CPL. Thus, Naseem's inclusion for CPL and PCB giving a nod to allow Naseem playing the Caribbean Premier League also hints at his possible exclusion from the Test side.
Notably, Pakistan Cricket is undergoing massive overhaul, where the likes of Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan have been left out of the squad in T20Is. Thus, Naseem's exclusion from Test side shouldn't come as a shock.
