On Tuesday, May 20, there were reports that Narendra Modi Stadium is all set to host the IPL 2025 final. According to the original schedule Eden Gardens in Kolkata was all set to host the finals, but because of the suspension of league by a week, the BCCI is now forced to move the tournament out of West Bengal because of rain threats in Kolkata in the first week of June.
Now with Narendra Modi Stadium likely to be the host for IPL 2025 final, lets look at which venue has hosted most IPL 2025 finals.
1.Chepauk Stadium - 3
The M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai have hosted the most finals in IPL history. On Three occasions, the Chepauk Stadium got the opportunity to host the final. The first ever IPL that was held at the Chepauk Stadium was in 2011 when CSK hosted MI and also lifted the trophy at their home ground.
Chepauk got the opportunity to host the finals for two successive years as they hosted the finals in 2012 as well where KKR won their first trophy. Chepauk last hosted the final in 2024. Now with Narendra Modi Stadium set to host IPL 2025 final, they too would become the venue with joint-most finals in IPL history.
2.Dubai International Stadium - 2
IPL has gone overseas on several occasions and twice it was played in UAE, where the Dubai International Stadium hosted the finals. Notably, the 2020 and 2021 season final were played at the Dubai International stadium as the league was being played in UAE because of COVID-19 in India.
3.Eden Gardens - 2
Eden Gardens in Kolkata too have hosted two finals which came in the year 2013 and 2015. They were all set to host the mega-event for the first time in 10 years, but the final is now most likely to be shifted out of Eden Gardens.
Notably, Eden Gardens have hosted the event twice and Mumbai Indians emerged victorious on both occasions.
3.Chinnaswamy Stadium - 2
The famous Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has also hosted the IPL final twice. The RCB home ground was the venue for the final in 2014 and 2016. KKR emerged victorious in 2014, while RCB got the chance to play the final at their home venue in 2016 but Sunrisers Hyderabad emerged victorious.
4. Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium -2
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad has also hosted the IPL final twice. 2017 and 2019 were the years when the Uppal Stadium got the chance to be the host for the biggest match in IPL.
Similar to Eden Gardens, Mumbai Indians emerged victorious on both occasions when the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium hosted the final.
5. DY Patil Stadium - 2
During the initial years of IPL history, DY Patil Stadium used to be BCCI's top-choice to host the IPL final. Notably, the first-ever IPL final took place at the DY Patil Stadium where Rajasthan Royals emerged victorious. The 2010 IPL final was also held at the DY Patil Stadium where Chennai Super Kings won their first ever IPL trophy.
6. Narendra Modi Stadium -2
The newly inaugurated stadium in Narendra Modi Stadium has hosted two successive IPL finals in 2022 and 2023. Notably, hosts Gujarat Titans won the trophy in 2022, while they also played the finals in 2023, but lost to Chennai Super Kings.
7. Wankhede Stadium/ Wanderers - 1
In 2009, IPL went to South Africa due to elections in India where Wanderers hosted the IPL final. Further, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is another stadium to have hosted the IPL final just once which was in 2018 where CSK emerged victorious.
