Namibia are set to play in their third T20 World Cup
On Friday, May 10, Namibia announced their 16-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, with Gerhard Erasmus leading the team as captain.
The squad, featuring both experience and youthful talent, will aim to build on their impressive unbeaten run in last year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier.
Twelve of the 15 players who featured in that brilliant campaign have been selected again for the World Cup. JJ Smit serves as the vice-captain of the squad.
Namibia are drawn in Group B alongside Oman, Scotland, Australia, and England. Their campaign starts with a match against Oman in Barbados on June 2.
With experienced campaigners like David Wiese and emerging talents like Jack Brassell, Namibia has a balanced squad that looks ready to challenge their competitors and make a mark at the tournament.

Former South African cricketer, Pierre de Bruyn has been instrumental in shaping the trajectory of Namibian cricket since taking over as head coach in December 2018. His journey to Namibia was paved with years of experience both on and off the field.
De Bruyn played domestic cricket in South Africa, representing teams like KwaZulu-Natal, Northerns, and Titans. Following his retirement, he became the director of cricket at the University of Pretoria, where he honed his coaching skills and developed a deep understanding of the game.
