Gujarat Titans (GT) young batting sensation B. Sai Sudharsan etched his name in the history books on Friday, May 10, by becoming the fastest Indian batsman to reach 1000 runs in the IPL's history. The 22-year-old also became the third fastest player to achieve the landmark, equalling the legendary Matthew Hayden.

Opening for GT in place of Wriddhiman Saha, Sudharsan capitalized on the opportunity. He took on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and played a sensational innings, scoring 103 runs off 51 balls. It marked his first T20 century and was special as he broke several records with that blistering performance.

Sudharsan breaks Sachin's record

Sudharsan reached the coveted 1000-run milestone in the IPL in just his 25th innings, surpassing the records of Sachin Tendulkar and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who achieved the feat in 31 innings. Tendulkar set the record back in April 2010, while Gaikwad achieved it in the 2022 season. Sudharsan now holds the record, accomplishing it in just 25 innings.

Shaun Marsh, the Orange Cap winner of the IPL's first season, holds the record for reaching 1000 IPL runs in the fewest innings, achieving it in just 21 innings.

A superstar in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), Sudharsan made his IPL debut for the Titans and has since been an integral player for the franchise.

When GT faced CSK last year in the final, Sudharsan played a brilliant knock, scoring a nerveless 96 runs off just 47 balls to help his team stay in control.

In the ongoing match, Sudharsan stitched a 210-run partnership with skipper Shubman Gill (104). Their efforts propelled GT to 231 in their allotted 20 overs.
