Breaking down Mumbai Indians' new jersey
Mumbai Indians have imbibed the culture of Mumbai in their new jersey. As shown in the video, the theme for the new kit is “City of Pulse. City of Play.” Further, MI also released an official statement, explaining and breaking down the significane of the new jsersey.
"Inspired by Mumbai’s heartbeat, this jersey channels the city’s contrast and chaos monsoon blues, midnight towers, crashing waves, and the non-stop rhythm that lives in every street. The “Wicket Pulse” print mirrors that movement: trains in motion, tides rolling in, life never standing still," read MI's press release.
"The “Coral” hints at Mumbai’s softer side reflecting sunrise over Marine Drive, terracotta rooftops, and the fierce, feminine spirit that powers the city. The “Gold Arcs” along the silhouette like sunlight on the Arabian Sea or Art Deco balconies glinting at golden hour, adding linear motion and couture energy to the form," it added.
Mumbai Indians' new jersey up for sale
The new Mumbai Indians jersey is up for sale and fans can go and grab them at MI's official website. Further, the defending champions have also dropped a fans edition kit, which is only available at 999 rupees and is quickly selling out as well.
However, the site is not showing the official jersey with the latest artwork becuase the fan edition is same as the 2025 edition.
Fans slam missing stars from MI jersey
As soon as Mumbai Indians dropped the jersey reveal video, the fans slammed the kit-makers for not adding stars. For any team, they wait to win trophies and add a star above their logo to carry their achievements on the sleeves.
However, the fans were left disappointed beause the jersey featured no stars. For the unversed, Mumbai Indians have been crowned winners twice. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side won the inaugural edition and also lifted the title in 2025, both times defeating Delhi Capitals in the final.
Besides the star controversy, a fan was not happy with the design and minimal changes to the jersy. They complained that the kit lacked innovation and was way similar to the 2025 WPL edition. At the time of writing, the video has over 98 likes and 3.7k retweets on twitter.
