In a significant development, Afghanistan has announced two crucial additions to their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, scheduled to take place in Sharjah from November 6. Opening batter Sediqullah Atal and left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad have been called up, bolstering the team’s lineup as they prepare for the critical series.

The changes come in the wake of injuries to crucial players Ibrahim Zadran and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. It is important to note that, Zadran, is recovering from ankle surgery and will miss the series. Sediqullah Atal, who has been in exceptional form recently, has been called up as his replacement.

Mujeeb And  Ibrahim Zadran To Miss The Series

Sediqullah Atal has played six T20 Internationals and has been a standout performer in the ACC Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup. His selection comes on the back of these impressive performances, making him a promising addition to the squad.

Meanwhile, spin sensation Noor Ahmad has been recalled to the squad after missing the recent ODI series against South Africa. Noor's inclusion will strengthen Afghanistan’s spin department, which will be missing the services of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who is sidelined with a finger injury.

With these additions, Afghanistan's squad now consists of 19 players. The rest of the squad remains unchanged from the team that secured a historic 2-1 series win over South Africa in Sharjah. This triumph marks Afghanistan's first-ever series victory against a top-five ICC-ranked team.

The series will be essential to Afghanistan's preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. With key players like Noor Ahmad and Sediqullah Atal coming into the squad, the team is well-positioned to maintain its momentum and continue its rise in international cricket.

The team will aim to build on their South Africa series win and fine-tune their strategies as they take on a formidable Bangladesh side in Sharjah.
