Kolkata Knight Riders pulled off some surprising moves in the IPL 2025 mega auction, leaving fans and the cricket community in a bit of shock. KKR apparently made headlines by releasing their IPL 2024 winning captain, Shreyas Iyer, and buying back released Venkatesh Iyer for a whopping INR 23.75 crore.

However, KKR made some smart choices by adding Anrich Nortje, Spencer Johnson, Umran Malik, and South African star Quinton de Kock to their roster. They also strengthened their batting lineup with Manish Pandey and Ajinkya Rahane. The all-rounder power in this squad also looks incredibly promising, that shows a mix of explosive batting and solid bowling.

Venkatesh Iyer: IPL 2025 Price - 23.75 Cr

  • Venkatesh Iyer has shown promise with his performance in the KKR and that must be more of a reason why the Purple squad bought him back for such a huge amount. 
  • Iyer's explosive batting, highlighted by a T20 strike rate of 140.44, and economical bowling, with an economy of 7.65 and 43 wickets, made him a valuable asset. In IPL 2024, Iyer amassed a total of 370 runs by playing 14 matches with a strike rate of 158.80.

Moeen Ali: IPL 2025 Price - 2 Cr

  • The much-reliable CSK all-rounder Moeen Ali was released this time ahead of the auction and was grabbed by KKR for INR 2 crore. However, there is still uncertainty regarding how many matches Ali will play as Sunil Narine might potentially overshadow him.
  • The English batting all-rounder so far has amassed a total of 3098 runs in T20s with a strike rate of 139.20. Ali also picked 240 wickets in the 365 matches he played at an economy rate of 7.61.

Anukul Roy: IPL 2025 Price - 40 Lakh

  • The player, who made his IPL debut in 2019, has participated in only 11 matches in his career and has been part of the KKR since 2022. Although the all-rounder has shown his potential, highlighted by a five-wicket haul followed by a four-wicket performance in the ICC U19 World Cup, his IPL statistics are modest. 
  • So far, Anukul has taken 5 wickets in the IPL while scoring 26 runs at a strike rate of 108.33 across his 11 matches.

Nevertheless, KKR boasts a solid all-rounder lineup besides the three acquisitions as they retained Ramandeep Singh, Andre Russell and Varun Chakravarthy and is armed with firepowers to support both the batting and bowling lineup. While Sunil Narine shows promise with the bat, new buy Rovman Powell might also engage with the ball in a few occasions.
