Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj expressed his excitement about joining the Warwickshire County Cricket Club and said he is looking forward to the opportunity of playing in the County Championship.

Siraj, out of India's squad for the T20 World Cup 2022, is in England for the next three weeks on a critical county stint with Warwickshire. The lanky seamer will play three First-Class games for the Edgbaston-based club before returning to India ahead of the ODI series versus South Africa in October.

Siraj has expressed his delight in joining Warwickshire for the County Championship. He said he is excited to play at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground and asserted that he will give his 100% in the last three County Championship games.

“I’m looking forward to the last three games and I’m very excited to play here at Edgbaston. I’ll give 100%. I played here last July (for India) and took four wickets, so I have good memories and bad memories as we lost the game," said Mohammed Siraj.

The right-arm seam bowler reckons playing with the Dukes ball in England will be a good learning curve for him.

“It’ll be good learning for me to play here in different conditions as a fast bowler as it will be seaming and swinging. I’m looking forward to it.”

In his 13-match Test career, Siraj has scalped 40 wickets at an average of 30.77. Siraj’s experience of playing Tests in England will be handy for the club. He has played five Tests in England where he has scalped 18 wickets with 4/32 being his best spell.

In his debut game for Warwickshire against Somerset, Siraj impressed everyone by picking three wickets on the rain-curtailed day 1 of the County Championship Division 1 game in Birmingham.

Warwickshire have struggled in the tournament so far, where they have managed to win just 1 of their 11 games. They are currently at the 9th position amongst 10 teams. Following the meeting with ninth-placed Somerset, who are five points below them with a game in hand, the club's final two matches are away to bottom-of-the-table Gloucestershire and then at home to title hopefuls Hampshire.
