One of the greatest cricketing stories of 2022 has been the resurgence of Dinesh Karthik. The wicket keeper batter from Tamil Nadu has been included in the 15 man squad for the upcoming T20I World Cup in Australia in October. The contingent for the T20I World Cup was announced today by the BCCI. Karthik, along with skipper Rohit Sharma are the only players from the 2007 tournament who will be featuring this year as well.

Both Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, who missed the multi-nation tournament in the UAE due to respective injuries, return for the marquee event and will bolster the team’s fast bowling ranks. Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the other two pacers in the squad, along with the all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Deepak Hooda.

“Dreams do come true"- Karthik on twitter

Dinesh Karthik took to twitter to express his jubilation at being one of the selected players for the world event. He wrote “Dreams do come true" in a tweet he posted.

The 37 year old has made his way back in to the reckoning for the national side on the back of exceptional performances. Majority of his performances came for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022. He returned to the Indian side for South Africa T20Is in June after almost three years after he displayed imperious form in the recently concluded Indian Premier League. The 37-year-old scored 330 runs at a strike rate of 183.33.
