The Guyana Amazon Warriors have brought in former domestic cricketer Mohammad Masroor as their new fielding coach for the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025. Interestingly, Masroor is already part of the Karachi Kings setup in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Ex-Pakistan Coach Joins Guyana Amazon Warriors
The franchise even celebrated the news on their social media pages, posting a banner that read:
"From Karachi to the Caribbean!"
"Mohammad Masroor takes on the role of Fielding Coach in Caribbean Premier League 2025 - wishing him a season to remember."
Earlier this year, in March 2025, Masroor was appointed as the assistant coach and High-Performance coach of the Karachi Kings. During his playing career, Masroor featured in 55 first-class matches and 20 List-A games, although he never managed to break into Pakistan national team.
Nevertheless, he stood out as one of the best fielders in the country’s domestic circuit. Because of this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) trusted him to serve as the fielding coach for the national side’s tours of Australia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe in 2024. Moreover, he worked with Pakistan’s senior team in the last two Test matches of their home series against England
However, Masroor’s stint with Pakistan came to an end earlier this year. The PCB decided not to extend his contract as fielding coach, especially with the Asia Cup 2025 approaching.
With such experience under his belt, Masroor is expected to strengthen the Warriors’ fielding department.
Imran Tahir Leads Warriors’ Strong Start
On the other hand, the Warriors themselves are in strong form. Led once again by the evergreen Imran Tahir, the team will be looking to build on their recent success. The Warriors lifted their first CPL trophy in 2023, finished as runners-up in 2024, and have now made it to the final a record seven times, more than any other team.
At present, Guyana Amazon Warriors sit at the top of the CPL 2025 points table, with one win, two points, and a healthy net run rate (NRR) of 1.235.
