Riding on scintillating half-century knocks by Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone, Birmingham Phoenix outfoxed Trent Rockets by seven wickets in the 15th match of the ongoing 100-ball tournament.

After restricting Lewis Gregory-led outfit to 145/6, Birmingham went on to chase down the target in 86 deliveries with both Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone coming down on Trent's bowlers like a ton of bricks.

A 146-run target looked like a cakewalk for Birmingham Phoenix but the chase began with a couple of early hiccups.

Will Smeed (1) was cleaned up by Luke Wood on the third delivery of the inning while his batting partner Miles Hammond could only contribute 20 runs before getting undone by Wood on a pinpoint yorker.

However, after that, it was smooth sailing for Birmingham with skipper Moeen Ali and power-hitter Liam Livingstone stitching an 85-run partnership for the third wicket.

While Moeen Ali (28-ball 52) perished after clobbering a belligerent half-century, Livingstone stood tall with dogged determination and creamed an unbeaten 51 off 32 to take his side home with 14 balls to spare.

Matthew Wade remained not out for 14 on the other side. For Trent Rockets, Luke Wood was the only silver lining in an otherwise underwhelming bowling performance. The left-arm pacer returned with the figures of 3/17.

Daniel Sams' half-century propels Trent to 145

Trent Rockets were in shambles soon after Birmingham Phoenix invited them to have a strike first. None of their top six batters could manage to breach the 13-run mark.

Thanks to Lewis Gregory (35* off 22) and Daniel Sam's unbeaten 92-run partnership for the 7th wicket, Trent Rockets reached a respectable total of 145 after 100 deliveries.

The Australian all-rounder rose to the occasion once again and played a stupendous knock of unbeaten 25-ball 55. His half-century inning was laced with 5 four and 3 towering sixes.

Benny Howell was the most impactful bowler for Birmingham, having picked up a three-wicket haul in his spell of 20 deliveries. Moeen Ali (1/4), Imran Tahir (1/26), and Tom Helm (1/34) were other wicket-takers for Phoenix.

Brief Score

Trent Rockets: 145/6 (100 Balls)
