In a rather one-sided affair, Birmingham Phoenix Women swatted aside Trent Rockets to register a thumping eight-wicket win in the 7th match of the Women's The Hundred at Edgbaston, Birmingham on Monday, August 15.

Put to bat first, Trent Rockets could never really find any rhythm in the match as they succumbed to 116 for 9. In reply, Birmingham Phoenix hunted down the target in 91 deliveries to record their second successive win of the season.

Chasing 117, wicket-keeper batter Amy Jones and Ellyse Perry put up a match-winning unbeaten 78-run partnership for the third wicket to ensure Birmingham cantered to victory with nine balls to spare.

Skipper Sophie Devine (16) and Evelyn Jones (11) earlier gave the team a steady start before Amy Jones and Ellyse Perry teamed up to help Birmingham cruise to an easy triumph.

While Jones bludgeoned 44 off 32 deliveries and remained not out, Perry whacked unbeaten 39 off 28. For Trent Rockets, Alana Kings and Natalie Sciver got a wicket each.

Emily Louise Arlott derails Trent's batting line-up

Earlier, the ruthless and relentless bowling efforts from Birmingham Phoenix helped them pack Trent Rockets' innings for a mere 116 for 9 in allocated 100 deliveries.

Emily Louise Arlott was the chief annihilator with the ball, having creamed three wickets while conceding 19 runs in her 20 balls spell.

The likes of Georgia Elwiss (2/16) and Sophie Molineux (2/22) also picked a couple of wickets each to wreck the Rockets' batting unit.

For the Trent-based outfit, only three batters, namely Ellyse Villani (25-ball 33), Natalie Sciver (31-ball 31), and Kathryn Bryce (12* off 8) could score in double figures.

Following this victory, Birmingham Phoenix claims the top spot in the points ranking with four points from two matches. Trent Rockets, meanwhile have one win from two fixtures and they currently occupy the third position in the league table.
