Major League Cricket played a massive role in popularising cricket in the United States. After two successful seasons, the thrilling T20 tournament is all set to come up with yet another edition. 

Before the season started, the franchises confirmed their retention list. Big names like Travis Head, Daryl Mitchell, Anrich Nortje, and Pat Cummins were left out, making this bold move the talk of the town.

Pat Cummins Fails To Be Retained

After two successful seasons, Major League Cricket is set to come back with another thrilling season, and the teams have confirmed their retention list. After winning the MLC trophy last year, the Washington Freedom retained almost the core squad of 15 players. But the real shocker came when they released Akeal Hosein and Andrew Tye. 

Walking in the same way, San Francisco Unicorns released powerhouses like Pat Cummins, Matt Henry, and Josh Inglis, and that was marked as a bold move by the franchise. Meanwhile, Seattle Orcas took an even riskier approach, releasing stars like Quinton de Kock, Obed McCoy, and Nandre Burger, retaining only seven players in a surprising move.

Miller, Zampa, And Domestic Stars Miss Out On Retention

Before stepping into the upcoming season of MLC, MI New York retained big names but released star bowlers like Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje. Along with them, Tim David and Dewald Brevis failed to find their places on the retention list. Meanwhile, LA Knight Riders shook things up by releasing big names like David Miller, Jason Roy, and Adam Zampa, leaving fans surprised.

Despite holding onto key players like Devon Conway, Marcus Stoinis, and Noor Ahmad, the Texas Super Kings made surprising cuts, parting ways with stars like Naveen-ul-Haq, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, and Matheesha Pathirana. Just not the big names of international cricket, domestic talents like Steven Taylors, Jasdeep Singh, and others failed to secure a spot in franchises' retention list.
