ECB clears Ben Duckett to participate in Champions Trophy
England has received a massive injury boost ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, as opener Ben Duckett has been declared fit following a groin injury scare. Duckett sustained the injury while fielding in England’s final ODI against India held in Ahmedabad, but scans have confirmed that he is fully available for the tournament.
With Jacob Bethell already ruled out due to a hamstring strain, Duckett’s fitness comes as a relief for England, who are looking to bounce back from a 3-0 series defeat to India. England will kick off their campaign against Australia in Lahore on February 22, followed by matches against Afghanistan, and South Africa in the group stage.
Jofra Archer’s participation under scanner
While England will have the services of Ben Duckett, Jofra Archer, the star pacer, is also struggling with an injury. He sustained a cut on his bowling hand during the series against India and is unlikely to be available for the first couple of games of the Champions Trophy 2025. If he eventually misses out, England can consider trusting Brydon Carse, Gus Atkinson and Mark Wood.
