Glenn Maxwell In Action vs West Indies - (Source: AFP)
On Sunday, August 10, Australia will lock horns against South Africa for the first of the three-match T20i series. Marrara Cricket Ground will host the series opener, as the upcoming tour will serve as a practice ground for the T20 World Cup 2026.
Eyes will be on key stars such as Glenn Maxwell, who are struggling for form, but continue to be a key part of Australia's T20I set-up. Notably, the star all-rounder scored just 90 runs in five games against the West Indies.
Maxwell Eyes History Against South Africa
The 36-year-old will look to turn things around for the Proteas, as Maxwell is known for stepping up against tough opponents. Meanwhile, the right-handed batter also eyes a personal milestone as he gears up for the South Africa challenge.
Notably, Maxwell is just four wickets away from completing 50 T20I wickets and, by doing so, the 36-year-old will become the fourth cricketer in the world to have a double of 2500 runs and 50 T20I wickets.
Only Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Hafeez, and Malaysia's Virandeep Singh have achieved the same. Here is the list.

Glenn Maxwell's T20I Career
Talking about Maxwell's career, the Australian all-rounder made his T20I debut in 2012. Maxwell has played 121 T20Is and scored 2754 runs, averaging 29.29. The all-rounder has five centuries to his name and eleven half-centuries.
In bowling, Maxwell has 46 wickets, and his best figures have been three wickets in a match. Thus, he needs to produce his career-best bowling figures in the first T20I to achieve this feat. However, it is expected that Glenn Maxwell will complete the rare T20I double in the upcoming three matches.
