Matheesha Pathirana Makes A Stunning Revelation After His Legendary 4/28 Vs MI

After orchestrating a remarkable turnaround to secure victory for his team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Matheesha Pathirana attributed his success in the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) to maintaining composure while bowling against the world class batting line-up of MI.

At a packed Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday evening, CSK emerged victorious over their arch-rivals MI by 20 runs.

Despite Rohit Sharma's century for the home team, Mumbai fell short, managing only 186/6 in 20 overs. Pathirana, with his four-wicket haul, played the all important role in Chennai's emphatic win.

With eight wickets in three games in IPL 2024 at an average of 11, he has been a standout performer for the defending champions.

Reflecting on his match-winning heroics, Pathirana said: "When we were bowling in the powerplay, I was pretty nervous. I was told to keep it calm and do my thing, that gave me the confidence."

"I don't think too much about results, just concerned with my execution. If I execute, I will get my rewards. Sometimes I have to change my plans depending on the batters. I was struggling with a bit of a niggle for two weeks, but the support staff all backed me and that's been the main reason for my form."

Earlier, impressive batting performances by skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube helped the defending champions reach a competitive total.

The standout moment of the El Clasico was the arrival of the legendary MS Dhoni at the crease, who once again starred the match in style at Wankhede.

MI skipper Hardik Pandya once again faced criticism after being hit for three consecutive sixes off Dhoni's bat, and his aggressive innings of 20 runs from the last four balls propelled CSK to a winning total, which proved to be enough for the visitors.
