The ever-expanding T20 format is headed towards the United States of America (USA). USA Cricket have already announced its inaugural six-team T20 tournament called Major League Cricket (MLC), starting next year in June-July. It is speculated that salaries will only be second to the money-spinning Indian Premier League (IPL).

According to reports, former England fast bowler Liam Plunkett, who is in line to feature in MLC, said that the league is capable of attracting talent like Jonny Bairstow and Andre Russell.

Plunkett ever hopeful

"Americans want to watch the best and I think we can attract them. I think they will definitely jump on board when they see how big it is. With how many people love cricket here and the way Americans put on a show, you will get packed-out crowds."

"Hopefully you will get people like Jonny Bairstow, Andre Russell, all of these guys coming across to play. It is a lot of people's dream to play sport in America."

Plunkett, who was part of England's World Cup winning campaign in 2019, under Eoin Morgan, revealed that money will definitely be poured into the competition.

"With the money that's behind this, it's going to be massive. It's 'go big or go home'. That is how they do stuff in America."

Indian Premier League (IPL)  franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owner Shah Rukh Khan has already invested in MLC, and are building a stadium in Los Angeles.
