The tearaway pacer, Mark Wood made a return to international cricket after seven months, in a T20I fixture against Pakistan in Karachi on Friday (September 23).

With a searing pace of 97mph/156kph, Wood wreaked havoc on his return to finish with figures of 3/24 to help England lead 2-1 in the seven-match T20I series.

Ahead of this series, England were reeling with the injury concerns of their pacers, Jofra Archer, Wood and Chris Woakes. Although Archer will not be available, the other two players have returned and will feature for the team in the T20 WC.

In this regard, Wood reckoned he was fresh after a seven-month break, and thinks it's a challenge keeping up those speeds for a prolonged period in international cricket.

Here is what Wood said

"It's my first game in a while but actually I felt pretty good leading into it. I've done loads of time in the gym, lots of running, but nothing is the same as playing a game. So it was just a different intensity. But I'm absolutely fine.

"What's important for me is that I don't want to go too hard now and then I'm not ready for Australia. I've got to peak at the right time, and then when it comes to that World Cup, I'm fit and firing."
