Marizanne Kapp pulls out of the T20I series against England, returns home

South Africa women's all-rounder Marizanne Kapp will play no part in the ongoing T20I series after returning home for personal reasons.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) released a statement explaining Kapp's decision, stating that her family is going through a "trying time."

Kapp faces family issues, confirms CSA

"(Kapp) requested to travel back home to Gqebera to be close to her family during this trying time".

Young seam bowler Tumi Sekhukhune has also been ruled out of the T20I series after a groin injury. Sekhukhune played an important hand in an impressive partnership with Kapp to secure a draw in the Test at Taunton. However, she was left out of the third ODI against England at Leicester due to a recurring groin problem.

Tazmin Brits called up as a replacement

Opening batter Tazmin Brits has been called up as a replacement for the three T20Is against England.

Huge loss for the Proteas Women

In what has been a disappointing tour for the Proteas women, Kapp has been a bright spark and the lone ranger for her team. The 32-year-old has been in outstanding form.

For her sensational performance with the bat in the Taunton Test, she was named the ICC Women's Player of the Month award for June 2022.

Doubts over Kapp's participation in the CWG games

The CSA has not yet confirmed whether Kapp will return to Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games 2022, which will feature women's cricket for the first time.
