'Loyalty Is Royalty' - RCB Takes Sly Dig At MI Over Captaincy Shuffle

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took a sly dig at arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) over the latter's ongoing captaincy fiasco before the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Without even mentioning their rival's name, the RCB rubbed salt into their wounds after the infamous captaincy switch from Rohit Sharma to Hardik Pandya.

The popular franchise posted a clip featuring their great trio of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle with a caption that wouldn't have warmed the Mumbai fans, for it read: "Loyalty is Royalty".

Since the clip featured a lot of laughing and happy glimpses of Kohli, RCB's former skipper and their biggest constant over the last 15 years, the caption was taken as an indirect hit on Pandya and MI franchise.

RCB's Subtle Dig Against MI's Captaincy Fiasco

While Pandya left his recent franchise Gujarat Titans (GT) despite an immensely successful two-year stint as captain and player to forge a comeback to the MI set-up, MI just sacked Rohit from the captaincy post even as he remains one of the most successful leaders in the history of the IPL.

The Mumbai franchise made waves with a much-highlighted trade from Titans worth INR 15 crores plus an undisclosed transfer fee to resecure Pandya's services as a premier white-ball allrounder. The franchise even released their previous hefty bids such as Cameron Green and Jofra Archer to ensure they have the purse to go through the Pandya trade smoothly.

The moment the one-way trade was complete prior to the forthcoming mini-auction, speculations were rife if the backroom discussions between the two parties is for the Indian cricketer to take over from 36-year-old Rohit, who is approaching the fag end of his illustrious career.

As it panned out, it was indeed the case as MI shocked its fans on Friday (December 15) evening by undergoing the Rohit-Pandya swap. The move has been criticised widely by Rohit's passionate fanbase while taken with an open mind by another section, which is backing the franchise to continue scaling heights with Pandya.
