The inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC) is upon us, and all teams are fine-tuning their sides. Ahead of the tournament opener on July 13, the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) have named Sunil Narine as their skipper for the 2023 season.

Narine will lead the LAKR against Texas Super Kings, captained by Faf du Plessis at the Grand Prairie Stadium in their opening match. The West Indies' spinner has been part of the Knight Riders family since playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since 2012, and also represents their sister clubs Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and Abu Dhabi Knights in International League T20 (ILT20), respectively.

Other KKR players, including Andre Russell, Jason Roy, Lockie Ferguson, and Ali Khan will also play alongside Narine in LAKR. Apart from them, Adam Zampa, Martin Guptill, Rilee Rossouw, and Unmukt Chand will also turn up for the LA-based franchise.

The spinner is currently playing in the T20 Blast for Surrey and claimed 20 wickets, and scored 203 runs.

Narine led Abu Dhabi in ILT20, where the club finished last, winning just one match out of 10.
