As reported earlier, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named Litton Das the national Test skipper for the upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan. Das will lead a strong 15-member squad, which sees the return of pacer Taskin Ahmed and opener Zakir Hasan.

Das will replace regular skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who misses out due to an injury, that the all-rounder picked up during Bangladesh's Ireland tour. With this, Das will become Bangladesh's 12th Test captain.

Bangladesh selectors have also included two uncapped players in Shahadat Hossain and Mushfik Hasan, who have been phenomenal in domestic cricket lately.

For Chattogram Division, Shahadat has slammed 1,265 runs in 20 First-Class matches since 2021, while for Rangpur Division, Mushfik has claimed 49 wickets in 13 games since 2022.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, chief selector Minhajul Abedin backed Das as a leader and showed confidence in both Shahadat and Mushfik.

Here's what Abedin said

"I think he (Litton) has got all the credentials to lead the Test squad and it's a big honour for him. It's an opportunity for us to see him as Test leader and we believe he will lead from the front."

"Both of them (Shahadat and Musfik) have been with us from the Under-19 level and they were also part of the High Performance Unit so they were always in our radar. We are confident if they get a chance they will do well."

Bangladesh players had their first camp at Sher-E-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday under the watchful eyes of coach Chandika Hathurusingha.

BCB has also roped in Allan Brown as a mind trainer for the next few weeks, who took his first session yesterday.

The one-off Test will be played in Dhaka from June 14.

The white-ball leg of the tour will be played in July when Afghanistan return after their proposed India visit. The limited-overs leg will consist of three One-Day Internationals (ODI) and two T20Is, starting July 5.
