Rashid Khan death stare [Source: Screenshot/Sonyliv]
Afghanistan was in desperate need of a wicket against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2025 match, and captain Rashid Khan stepped up as he bamboozled Saif Hassan with a googly to shatter his stumps. The Tigers won the toss and the decision to bat paid off as the openers added 63 runs in no time.
Surprisingly, Rashid held himself back and was introduced after the powerplay (7th over), and in his first over, the magician struck with a big scalp. Hassan was looking scratchy, and in a move to break the shackles, he went for a blind slog and the stumps were castled.
While Afghanistan celebrated in joy, Rashid Khan looked unhappy for some reason as he gave a death stare to the departing batter and didn’t even blink once, as the moment was caught on camera.
Why Rashid was angry at Hassan?
In the third over of the match, Tanzid Hasan nicked one off Fazalhaq Farooqi as the ball slipped past the keeper and the first slip fielder. That was an easy chance to grab the catch, but Afghanistan spilled it as Tanzid made the Afghan team pay with a quick-fire knock.
As the ball went past the keeper and the slip fielder, Rashid was furious with the two and showed his angry side. This was one reason why Rashid didn’t celebrate the wicket and gave a death stare to the departing batter.
Importance of this match cannot be denied
The group comprising Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong is the group of death, and every game becomes important. If Afghanistan loses this match, then they need to win against Sri Lanka to qualify for the Super 4. If the Afghan side indeed loses the Asia Cup match, then the dropped Tanzid Hasan chance could come back to haunt them.
