The big day is here as the eighteenth edition of the Indian Premier League is set to go live on the big stage. The cricket fans of Kolkata are a little more excited as the IPL opener between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers. However, amidst the thrill, a looming concern is casting a shadow over the city's enthusiasm.

The upcoming match between KKR and LSG is receiving a safety issue as the match is clashing with the Ram Navami Celebration. With speculation swirling about a possible rescheduling, Kolkata Police has put an end to the rumors with their latest announcement.

Kolkata Police Quashes Rescheduling Rumors

The IPL fever is on and the cricket fans of the City of Joy can't wait to cheer loudly for their favorite stars. KKR is set to kick off their campaign at Eden Gardens, but the spotlight turned to their April 6 clash against LSG, which coincides with Ram Navami celebrations.

The buzz about rescheduling the match due to safety concerns. But Kolkata Police’s recent social media post put all the buzz on end as they said they are ‘committed to ensuring the safety and security’.

“Certain misleading posts are being circulated regarding the proposed rescheduling of the IPL match on 6th April. Kolkata Police remains firmly committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. All deployment decisions are made keeping public safety as the top priority. Kolkata Police – With you, Always.” Kolkata Police stated.

Earlier, CAB President Snehasish Ganguly addressed the issue, stating that Kolkata Police had concerns about providing adequate security on the day. Even the association also discussed with BCCI to reschedule the match. But the answer is yet to be received from the board.


Fans Are Crossing Fingers Ahead Of IPL Opener

As the IPL 2025 is raising curtains on March 22, Eden Gardens is set to host the thrilling tournament opener between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. As the fans are excited for a nail-biting action on the field, the weather condition is keeping their finger crossed.

The weather could play spoilsport as the meteorological department has issued an orange alert for rain and thunderstorms on match day. If the match calls off, the KKR fans need to wait till their next match at the home ground.
