Ruturaj Gaikwad unveiled his list of favourite cricketers, naming the legendary trio of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Kane Williamson as the three great batters he loves to follow for their amazing batsmanship and strong mentality at the crease.

The rising young Indian opener takes huge inspiration from the esteemed troika when it comes to his own game, striving to replicate their genius in the middle with the bat in hand.

Gaikwad, whose style is full of elegance and grace, named the three great cricketers during a conversation with Indian broadcaster Star Sports from South Africa when he was asked to reveal his heroes and players he would feel pleased to follow the footsteps of.

Gaikwad Names Esteemed Trio As Favourites

"Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Kane Williamson are my current favourite cricketers in the world," Gaikwad said from Paarl at the sidelines of the South versus India ODI series decider played on Thursday (December 21), hailing the great modern-day trio for their amazing body of work.

Gaikwad got down speaking to Star Sports as he couldn't take part in the third and final One-Dayer of the Proteas tour, which went from bad to worse for him after an untimely finger injury forced him out of action.

The Indian opener, who was dismissed for scores of 5 and 4 in the first two outings, couldn't recover from a blow sustained off a dropped catch in the slips during the second ODI in Gqeberha on Tuesday (December 19) and was ruled out of the decider.

In his place, Team India handed a debut to talented Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar, who opened the innings in a temporary arrangement by the KL Rahul-led side and contributed a free-flowing 22 off 16 balls in a historic victory.
