India women's cricket team off-spinner Deepti Sharma expressed confidence in breaking Australia's winning streak at home and believes it will happen soon.

The Alyssa Healy-led Australia secured a tight three-run victory at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday, thus taking an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

It's been a while since India Women defeated Australia at home, with the last win in Chennai on February 23, 2007, but Deepti Sharma anticipates a turnaround in the near future.

Here's what Deepti Sharma told the media before India's training session:

“Look, winning and losing is a part of the game — but we have improved as a team — be it as a bowling unit or batting. We will try to break their winning streak as soon as possible.”

“There have been a lot of improvements. Earlier, whenever we would play against Australia the games never used to go that close. This is one positive (from the last match) that we are able to take it till the end.”

As per Deepti's statement, the team is determined to extract the positives from the second game and work on strengthening various aspects moving forward.

“We did well as a bowling unit, the spinners and the pacers to have restricted them. At the same time the batters did well, their partnerships in between were good.”

Deepti Sharma's batting, contributing an unbeaten 24 off 36 balls in the second ODI, faced scrutiny when the teams ended up just three runs short of the target. Admitting that she needs to work on her strike rate, here's what Deepti Sharma said:

“Every team plays to win but some days you are able to pull it off and some days you are not. We gave it a good fight, took it till the end of the game and now I am focusing on tomorrow’s match.”

The series is already in Australia's grasp after winning the first two ODIs, and now India is determined to salvage pride by winning the final match and avoiding a whitewash.
