Led by Rohit Sharma, India are gearing up to face Australia in a five-match Test series in their backyard. However, the visitors had an injury scare ahead of the first Test at Optus stadium, with experienced batter KL Rahul leaving the practice session after being hit by a rising delivery on his elbow.

Setback For India As KL Rahul Gets Hit On Elbow

In a bid to prepare for the high-voltage Test series against Australia, the Indian players are currently featuring in an intra-squad practice match at the WACA. However, in an unfortunate yet scary incident, India's prominent batter KL Rahul was forced to retire hurt after being hit by a rising delivery on his elbow.

According to a report by the Times of India (TOI), Rahul complained of agonising pain and discomfort as he was stuck by a pacy delivery. The bowler's name wasn't mentioned, and Rahul instantly left the playing area, with one of the physios escorting him out of the ground.

Will KL Rahul Be Ruled Out Of Perth Test?

The extent of KL Rahul's elbow injury is still unrevealed. However, the way he left the field put question marks on his participation in the series opener in Perth. Rahul, who was moved down to the middle order after playing as an opener for the majority of his career, is expected to be reinstated at the top order if skipper Rohit Sharma misses the first Test due to personal reasons. However, if the Karnataka batter's elbow injury makes him sit out of the game, we might see Abhimanyu Easwaran getting his debut cap in the Perth Test.
