In a massive setback for Pakistan, swashbuckling opener Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of the upcoming clash against Australia in Bengaluru. Notably, Fakhar is recovering from a knee injury and will be available for selection in the next week. In his absence, Abdullah Shafique, who has been impactful with the bat, will continue to open alongside Imam-ul-Haq.

As reported by Cricket Pakistan, the remaining players of the 15-member squad are fit and available for selection for the Australia game.

To Pakistan's misfortune, some crucial players, Shaheen Afridi, Abdullah Shafique and Zaman Khan, were diagnosed with viral fever a couple of days ago. The aforementioned players opted for rest on Tuesday, while their teammates actively took part in the practice session.

However, as per the latest reports, the infected players have recovered and are set to feature in this all-important face-off at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. So, in all likelihood, Pakistan will continue with the same playing XI that took part in the high-voltage encounter against India.
