  • Kent Wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson Considers His Future After Being On The Radar Of Several Clubs

Kent wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson considers his future after being on the radar of several clubs

Kent wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson has an important decision to make regarding his future in the coming few months. Although Kent is keen to retain the 23-year-old cricketer, Robinson's position at the club has recently become quite uncertain.

Robinson's teammate at Kent, Sam Billings has been promoted to the role of a wicketkeeper in the English Test squad. The duo have featured together before, with Robinson taking the gloves behind the wicket.

Billings is thought to take over the wicket-keeping duties at Kent. Robinson has been left out of the Kent squad to face Northamptonshire this week, with Billings and Zak Crawley joining the squad.

The 23-year-old was loaned out to Durham for the Vitality T20 Blast. The stumper has been a part of the England Lions and England U19 squads in the past. He made his First-Class debut for Kent against Leicestershire in 2018, with his latest outing coming against Surrey last month.

Ollie Robinson's current deal at Kent expires in the summer of 2023. However, a certain clause in the agreement allowed the youngster to consider other options if some conditions were not met.

It is indeed an important step in the wicketkeeper batsman's career, as his situation at Kent is certainly a bit worrisome. Interest from other counties is quite understandable, given that he has four first-class centuries to his name and has the experience of captaining a side.

Sussex is considered a favourable destination for Ollie Robinson. The club is looking to replace Ben Brown, whom they lost to Hampshire last winter.
