Katherine Brunt becomes the most successful bowler for England Women in limited-overs

On Saturday (23 July), Katherine Brunt added another feather to her already illustrious career. She became the leading wicket-taker for England women’s team in T20Is.

Brunt claimed this feat during the second game of the bilateral T20I series between England and South Africa at Worcester.

In the last over of the innings, the 37-year-old cleaned up Laura Wolvaardt with a back-of-length slower ball.

In 98 appearances, the right-arm pacer has scalped 103 wickets at an economy of 5.52. She got past Anya Shrubsole, who had 102 wickets.

Interestingly, Brunt is also the highest wicket-taker for the Three Lionesses in ODIs, with 170 wickets in 141 matches.

Earlier this year, she retired from the longest format having taken 51 wickets in 14 appearances.

Nat Sciver lauds Brunt for her astonishing feat

England stand-in captain Nat Sciver has hailed Brunt for reaching another milestone in her career.

She added that the fast bowler has the capability to win matches for the English team in crunch moments.

Brunt finished with figures of 1/24 in four overs, and England won the second T20I by six wickets. The third and final game of the series will be played on Monday (25 July) at Derby.

"I don't believe [how good Brunt is] sometimes because she is just my partner, my wife, but for her to be leading wicket-taker is really special. She can create something from nothing,” said Sciver.
