Team India is gearing up for the big Test series against England starting June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. But just before the first match, there was a bit of a scare in the nets. Karun Nair, who is making a strong return to the Indian squad, was accidentally hit by fast bowler Prasidh Krishna during a practice session.

As per a report by RevSportz, the injury looked minor, and there was no need to panic. Nair received some medical attention, and moments later, both he and others were seen laughing it off, clearly, it wasn’t anything serious.
India have now begun full-fledged practice sessions in Leeds after completing an intra-squad match in Beckenham. One of the most talked-about players in the squad is 33-year-old Karun Nair, who is making a comeback to the Indian Test team after more than eight years.
Karun Nair Stayed Positive Despite Being Dropped
Nair, famously known for his unbeaten 303 against England in 2016, is only the second Indian ever to hit a triple century in Tests. However, despite that historic feat, he was dropped in 2017 after a few poor outings and didn’t play another Test.
In the years that followed, Nair faced many setbacks, including being advised by a fellow Indian cricketer to leave India and try his luck in T20 leagues abroad. But he never gave up. He fought his way back, playing county cricket and later moving from Karnataka to Vidarbha in the domestic circuit.
His performances in 2023 and 2024 have been outstanding, scoring over 800 runs in the Ranji Trophy and smashing five centuries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His recent form also earned him an IPL contract with Delhi Capitals for Rs 50 lakh.
As the first Test nears, reports suggest Nair might play at No. 3 in the batting lineup, with Shubman Gill possibly moving to No. 4, and KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal opening. Though nothing is confirmed, all eyes will surely be on Nair’s much-awaited return.
