Vaibhav Suryavanshi created a lot of buzz during IPL 2025 with his fearless hitting for Rajasthan Royals and was one of the finds of the season. The batter is just 14 years old, and he has already played for the senior Bihar side across formats.

His IPL performance has further increased his stocks, and there are many people who are already predicting Vaibhav's bright future in Indian colours. The fact that the cricketer is from Bihar, a state not known to produce big cricket stars, has made his progress even more interesting.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Father Shares Details Of Son's Cricket Journey

Thus, there is a lot of excitement around the journey of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and how he has managed to break through in Bihar cricket. Now, in an exclusive interview with Dainik Jagran, Vaibhav Suryavanshi's father opened up about his son's progress and the politics in Bihar cricket.

Sanjeev Suryavanshi, Vaibhav's father mentioned that his son started playing from the age of just five and they got nets installed at the home itself. The left-handed batter was then admitted into Brijesh Jha's academy in Samastipur and after two years there, he was sent to GenX Cricket Academy in Patna.

His father also stated that he used to take Vaibhav to Patna three days a week and his kid improved his game under the coaching of Manish Ojha.

"Vaibhav started playing cricket at the age of five. He started playing cricket for the first time at home and I got nets installed at home for this. After about two years, I sent him to Brijesh Jha's academy in Samastipur. After playing there for two years, he was sent to GenX Cricket Academy in Patna. There he improved his cricket under the supervision of coach Manish Ojha and assistant coach Robin. I used to take him to Patna three days a week."

Bribe Culture Not Involved In Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Progress

Sanjeev Suryavanshi was then asked about the corruption in Bihar cricket and the culture of bribe in the state. In reply, senior Suryavanshi denied any such wrong act with them and added that his son played in all age groups in Bihar and was never asked for a single rupee.

"No, it never happened to us. Vaibhav played Under-16, Under-19 and Ranji too, but was never asked for a single rupee. He played well and got a chance."

Thus, Vaibhav Suryavanshi's father has made it clear that they have not faced any corruption in Bihar cricket and have got the full support till now. If true, it is a big positive for the state of Bihar where cricket has always suffered due to the bribe culture as many talented cricketers like Ishan Kishan and Mukesh Kumar have been forced to shift their state association in the past.
