Kagiso Rabada, the star South African and GT bowler, has been provisionally suspended from cricket as revealed by the player himself in his official statement. Rabada left the IPL after just two games for personal reasons, but now has stated that he returned home because of an adverse analytical finding for the use of a recreational drug.

Kagiso Rabada's Return To Cricket In Jeopardy

Rabada's statement came through South African players union, and there is no clarity over the time span of his suspension. The ban though has put the tall pacer's participation in the remainder of IPL 2025 matches in doubt, while he might also miss the all-important WTC final against Australia, scheduled to be played from June 11.

The right-arm pacer in his long statement mentioned that he is deeply sorry for letting people down and he will never take the game of cricket for granted and hoped to return to competitive cricket soon.

Rabada also thanked Cricket South Africa, Gujarat Titans, his agent, South African Cricketers' Association (SACA), and his legal team for their guidance. He also stated that he would keep working hard and make a strong comeback while emphasising that this incident will not define him.

However, the name of the drug he used is still not out in public, and more details about the episode are likely to come soon. Also, it is unclear when exactly he took the banned substance. Kagiso Rabada has been a gun-bowler for South Africa across formats for a long time now, and this news about the top pacer is a big setback to the cricketing world.
