The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently caught up with the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, which will see Chennai and Gujarat fighting in its final on Sunday at Ahmedabad. After the conclusion of the ongoing edition of the cash-rich tournament, the Indian Board will be holding a meeting to shortlist the venues of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 which is scheduled to be played later in the winter.

As per a report by ANI, BCCI's higher dignitaries will make the announcement shortly after the IPL 2023 on May 28 (Sunday).

Earlier, it was learnt that the following locations had been shortlisted to host the World Cup matches: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rajkot, Indore, Hyderabad, and Dharamshala. However, BCCI is still to make any official announcements regarding that.

India, who will host an ICC event after seven years, last hosted a 50-over World Cup back in 2011, when it was a 14-team tournament played across 13 venues in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

However, unlike in 2011, this time around, it's a 10-team competition, but each team will play the other once in the league phase before three knockout games, taking the match count from 43 to 45.

Meanwhile, if the reports are true, Mohali - the stadium hosting the INDO-PAK semifinal game in 2011 - won't get any World Cup match in the upcoming clash. And reportedly, India's most decorative venue, Ahmedabad, could host the fixture between the Asian archrivals and the finale of the pinnacle tournament.
