In the latest development, Australian keeper-batter Josh Inglis, who played a key role in Punjab’s IPL 2025 journey, has informed the BCCI that he will only be available for 25 percent of the matches next season and will only feature in no more than four matches. The player was expected to be retained by the Punjab Kings side, and his release raised quite a few eyebrows.

According to the Punjab head coach, Ricky Ponting, Inglis was set to be retained by the franchise, but they decided to let him go after the Aussie star informed the franchise that the IPL 2026 schedule will collide with his wedding plans, and according to Cricbuzz, if any franchise decides to buy him in the mini auction, he’ll only be available for a couple of weeks.

The batter had a strike rate of 162.57, but most importantly, he played two crucial knocks towards the latter stages of the tournament.

In the league’s final fixture, he smashed 73 off 42 balls against the Mumbai Indians as PBKS finished in the top two of the points table. Moreover, the Qualifier 2 against the same opposition, Inglis tore apart Bumrah and smashed him for 20 runs in one over to help the team reach the finale.
