With already pocked the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, India with a 2-0 lead will be expected to make changes in the playing XI for the dead rubber at M Chinnaswammy this evening in the third and final tie.

Former India opener Aakash Chopra has urged Team India management to hand wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma the long rope and not replace the player with Sanju Samson, who is warming the bench.

Samson is hot on the heels of making a match-winning century against South Africa in the Paarl ODI.

Sharma in the ongoing series, has slammed 31 runs, where all his runs came in the first encounter in Mohali, as the batter scored zero at Indore. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player advocated for Sharma and not make the wicketkeeper another Samson and give him limited changes.

Assuming you play Sanju, will you judge him with one match? - Aakash Chopra

"The question is whether you should keep Jitesh or Sanju (Samson) at No. 6. If Jitesh (Sharma) had cemented his place totally, if there hadn't been a question mark at all in front of Jitesh's name, that he is definitely going to the World Cup, you could have thought about Sanju. However, Jitesh is not confirmed yet. There is a flip side to that as well. Assuming you play Sanju, will you judge him with one match? It's incorrect. Whoever you try, give him three chances at least. This is what has happened with Sanju throughout his career."

With his being India's final T20I before the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2023 later this year, management has shown keenness in giving all fringe players a chance to stake claim to a spot in the marquee tournament squad.
