The second edition of the Legends League Cricket is all set to kick start on September 17 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. A total of four teams including Gujarat Giants, India Capitals, Manipal Tigers, and Bhilwara Kings will be participating in the T20 Extravaganza. Before the T20 event, an exhibition match will be conducted on September 16 between India Maharajas and World Giants.

Former Indian pacer and Gujarat Giants coach Venkatesh Prasad is delighted with the concept of the Legends League Cricket. The veteran believes that the tournament will be a massive hit as people will be able to see the superstars of yesteryears once again take the field.

Venkatesh hails LLC

Venkatesh further mentioned that this is a great chance for the people from tier two cities to watch the former players play live. LLC will be hosted in five cities, including New Delhi, Lucknow, Cuttack, Jodhpur, and Kolkata. While Delhi and Kolkata hosted a lot of international games in the past, cities like Lucknow and Jodhpur didn’t get the same privilege.

In an interview with ANI, Venkatesh mentioned,

"Fans would love to see them (cricketers) showcase their skills. For me also, I am also going to see how these players are going to perform after years of leaving international cricket. It is going to be fun, competitive, and also serious.”

The veteran elaborates on his friendship with Sehwag

While coaching Gujarat Giants, the veteran seamer will be working with some of the finest cricketers including skipper Virender Sehwag, Chris Gayle, Graeme Swann, Daniel Vettori, and many more. Reflecting on his experience of collaborating with Gayle and Sehwag, Venkatesh added that both the players are already legends of the game and don’t require any kind of mentoring.

The legendary pacer also thanked the Indian opening batter for helping him grab the coaching role for the Adani-owned franchise. Venkatesh and Sehwag share a close camaraderie with each other as they represented India in a number of matches together in the past.

Speaking on his bond with Sehwag, Venkatesh mentioned,

"Me and Viru go long way back. We have played together for the nation. When he was playing, I got into coaching. We were involved in a couple of IPL franchises. It is nice to be back. I am coming into the coaching after quite some time. I was going towards administration. It is nice to be with Viru and Gujarat Giants.”

The veteran also predicted an expansion for the tournament. He believes that the league can expand up to five to six teams in the future.
