In a significant development, there are reports that India's star seamer Jasprit Bumrah is having issues with his knee. Contrary to earlier reports that the right-arm seamer missed out on the fifth Test because of workload management, the 31-year-old actually injured his knee, which saw him warm the bench for the Oval Test.

According to a report from The Times of India, Jasprit has done damage to his knee, but fortunately, the right-arm seamer won't require surgery. Bumrah was also released from the squad and is soon expected to join the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to start his rehab.

The BCCI is yet to officially comment on Bumrah's injury, but an official speaking to the Times of India confirmed an injury to the right-arm seamer.

“Unfortunately, Bumrah is suffering from a knee injury. The good thing is that it’s not a major one and won’t require surgery. The BCCI medical team is currently awaiting his scan reports,” the BCCI source was quoted as saying by TOI.

Jasprit Bumrah Unlikely To Be A Part of Asia Cup 2025

The extent of the injury is unknown, but the reports suggest that Jasprit is all but out of the Asia Cup 2025. The upcoming Continental Cup is set to begin on September 9.

It is Bumrah's second setback this year as the right-arm seamer also missed the Champions Trophy because of the back injury he sustained during the fifth Test against Australia.

In the ongoing tour, Jasprit played three Tests, but looked a pale shadow of his prime as the right-arm seamer failed to clock 130135 kmph. Also, the 31-year-old struggled with an ankle issue as he reportedly tripped on the stairs.

India will miss Bumrah in the Asia Cup, and the Men in Blue will need to change their plans going into the continental Cup.
