Jasprit Bumrah, Smriti Mandhana Bag 'ICC Player Of The Month'Awards For June

It has been an excellent last month for the Indian players both Men and women. While the Men's team won the T20 World Cup trophy after 17 years, the women's side beat South African women across formats in the recently concluded bilateral series. 

In the latest events, ICC has rewarded the Indian players for their scintillating display as Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana have bagged the ICC Player of the Month awards for June. 

Bumrah, who took 15 wickets in the T20 World Cup, won the Player of the Tournament award for his performance as he delivered for the Men in Blue in clutch situations. 

Bumrah beat Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz for the award. 

"I am delighted to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June. It’s a special honour for me following a memorable few weeks spent in the USA and West Indies. We have had a lot to celebrate as a team, and I’m delighted to be able to add this personal accolade to the list."


"I wish to congratulate my captain Rohit Sharma and Rahmanullah Gurbaz for their excellent performances in the same period, and I am humbled to have been chosen as the winner," remarked Bumrah.

Smriti Mandhana's Performance In June

Talking about Smriti Mandhana, she smashed three centuries across formats last month and missed out on another one when she got out in 90s.

Smriti Mandhana made centuries in the first two ODIs against South Africa, compiling 113 and 136, before getting out on 90 in the 3rd ODI.

"I'm glad to be named ICC Women's Player of the Month for the month of June. I'm really happy with the way I think the team has performed and I'm happy to contribute for us, winning the ODI and the Test series."

This is the 1st time that Indians have won both the men's & women's cricketer of the month award in the same month
