The deadline for the Champions Trophy 2025 squad selection was January 12, but the deadline exceeded for India as they sweated hard on Jasprit Bumrah's fitness. The star pacer suffered a back injury during the 5th Test at SCG Vs Australia and didn't bowl in the second innings of that game, which India lost.
There were rumours that he would miss out on a Champions Trophy berth, but now, as per Sports Tak, the selectors are set to include the star pacer in the squad, which is to be announced, tomorrow, January 18.
Bumrah was reportedly advised bed rest for a considerable period of time, but he quashed those reports and now he is likely to be included in the squad. As per the timeline of his injury, the ace pacer will get better by the end of the month and will resume the training soon. The pacer has had history of back injuries and the management wanted to be cautious with his health.
Bumrah to play in England ODIs?
The selectors want Bumrah to be match-fit ahead of the Champions Trophy and wants the star pacer to at-least play one ODI against England. The Three Lions will play three ODI matches Vs India and Bumrah is expected to play the final ODI, so that he is ready for India's opening clash in Champions Trophy against Bangladesh.
He will not be included in the T20Is against England, but the team management is hoping he is ready to deliver when the tournament comes up.
