The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is one of the most popular teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and are one of the favourites to win the title in the upcoming season. The team has a great mixture of youth and experience and have filled up majority of their loopholes ahead of the IPL 2025.
In the mega auction, the side had the second largest purse and the RCB side bought plethora of players and many of them were foreigners. The likes of Tim David, Phil Salt, and Liam Livingstone are household names and will lit up the league with their performances.
Ahead of the start of the league, let us look at 3 overseas players who will start most of the matches for RCB.
3) Phil Salt
RCB released Faf du Plessis ahead of the mega auction and replaced him with Phil Salt at the top of the order. The maverick English batter was bought for INR 11.50 crore and the team has huge expectations from the power-packed opener.
He is most likely to open the innings alongside franchise legend, Virat Kohli and will play majority of the matches in the league as Salt is an out and out match-winner and the team needs his expertise at the top to deliver the title.
2) Josh Hazlewood
A fit Josh Hazlewood will be RCB's biggest asset in the bowling attack and will probably play all the group stage matches. The team does have Nuwan Thushara as the back-up pacer, but Hazlewood brings his experience on the table and has been quite useful in this format as of late.
He can bowl in the power-play and can also chip in towards the death overs and this is the reason why RCB spent 12.50 crore in the auction on him.
1) Tim David
Prior to the Big Bash League 2024-25, there were doubts on Tim David's ability to play as a finisher. However, the star Aussie player completely turned around his gameplay and became one of the best finishers in the league.
This was the exact reason why RCB bought the Australian superstar - to finish off the games. His role will be to play as a finisher and in this RCB squad, there is nobody who can do it better than him. Hence, expect David to play majority of the matches for RCB.
