Jasprit Bumrah Equals R Ashwin's Historic Feat; Scripts History In Latest ICC Rankings

On Wednesday, December 25, the ICC revealed their weekly ranking charts. In the latest update, Jasprit Bumrah has scripted history as he strengthened his hold as the World No. 1 Test bowler.
Bumrah, who has the most wickets in 2024 (62), now has 904 rating points, and it is the joint-most by an Indian bowler in Test history alongside R Ashwin. Notably, Ashwin, who recently retired from international cricket after the Gabba Test, also had a 904 rating in December 2016. Bumrah also shone in the rain-affected Gabba Test, where he took nine wickets.

Joe Root Continues To Be At The Top Of ICC Rankings
In the batters' category, Joe Root continues to be on top of the charts. Meanwhile, Travis Head has moved up the order and jumped a place to sit fourth on the table. Yashasvi Jaiswal has dropped a place to now rank 5th.
Rishabh Pant has also suffered a slump as he now sits on 12th place as Steve Smith has jumped a rank to now sit on the 11th position in the ICC rankings.
Things are not going well for Virat Kohli as well as he has dropped a place to now rank 21st in the world with an ICC rating of 646. He would be eyeing to regain his lost mojo as he once held in ICC Test rating of 937 in 2018.
