Former England fast bowler James Anderson has received his knighthood. The 43-year-old was knighted by Princess Anne at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, October 28.

It is worth noting that James Anderson confirmed his retirement from international cricket back in July 2024 after serving English cricket for over 20 years. During this time, Anderson picked up 991 wickets, including 704 in Tests alone to bow out of the game as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time.

James Anderson, aged 43, has been recognized for his services towards England cricket by Princess Anne. The legendary former cricketer received his knighthood from Princess Anne at the Windsor Castle on Tuesday, October 28.

He was also knighted by British politician Rishi Sunak back in April this year at the 2024 Prime Minister's Resignation Honours.

James Anderson, a veteran of 188 Tests, picked up 704 wickets in his illustrious career at an impressive bowling average of 26.45. An architect of England’s several Ashes series wins against Australia, including one away from home, Anderson harvested 117 of his career wickets in Ashes Tests at 35.97. He also collected over 100 wickets against fellow Test giants India and South Africa.

Apart from boasting of a glittering Test career, James Anderson claimed 269 wickets in 194 ODI matches, and another 18 in 19 T20I innings to accumulate 991 sticks across all international formats, the highest for any fast bowler in history and the third highest overall after spin wizards Muttiah Muralitharan and late Shane Warne.
