Cricket's Olympic hopes are getting a significant boost after Cricket Australia (CA) is said to be earmarking the 2032 Brisbane Olympics for the sport's inclusion. The development comes after the board started putting their emphasis more on game's participation among the young audience in the country.

The plan "Where the game grows" was officially announced as a part of the long-term objective of attaining new followers, especially young kids between five to 12, including girls.

It is worth mentioning that if cricket fails to make the cut for the event scheduled for 2028 in Los Angeles, then the global cricketing body ICC (International Cricket Council) will shift their focus on the next edition in 2032. ICC have been asked to give a presentation next month in a meeting scheduled with organisers of the working committee.

What CA Chief Nick Hockley said

"This strategy contains both a vision and a clear plan for how we can achieve bold, transformative change while also meeting our core responsibilities,

"I would like to thank everyone across the game for their passion and commitment as we work to unite and inspire everyone to love and play cricket, and in so doing, make cricket a sport for all that makes Australians proud."

ICC to bid for Cricket's inclusion

ICC, for some time, have been officially trying to include the sport in Olympics after receiving some much-needed backing from the BCCI (Board of Control of Cricket in India). One of the major factors was the introduction of women's cricket in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games which led to the game reaching a wider audience.

Cricket can be incorporated in the 2032 Olympics if Australia hosts it as the organisers are allowed to choose their preferred sports but might still require approval from the IOC (International Olympic Committee) before a final decision is taken as the other games might also present a case.
